Karachi: A meeting between representatives of various Defence Residents Committees/Associations with Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi was held at DHA’s Main Office here today. The meeting discussed the issue of refurbishment charges recently levied by DHA on open/constructed plots to recover the cost of development works carried out by DHA in Phase-I to Phase-VII.
The meeting after prolonged parleys unanimously decided to form a joint Committee under Administrator DHA comprising of residents associations reps and DHA Officials to find a most amicable solution to the problem. The refurbishment charges as a modus operandi would remain pended till the outcome of the recommendations of the committee to be given in shortest possible time.
Earlier Senior Proj Dir (SPD) DHA, Brig (R) Iftikhar Haider in a detailed briefing gave the rationale for imposition of Refurbishment Charges.
Administrator DHA Brig Tirmizi in his keynote address asked the residents associations to look at the elusive issue with an optimistic and forward looking approach and to find a solution to the problem with a spirit of understanding and co-operation. Capt (R) Haleem Siddiqui said that the residents associations have always had excellent relations and good understanding with DHA administration. He said that the residents associations in-spite of their reservations were ready to extend their co-operation to DHA to find a solution to the problem. The residents’ associations whose office bearers attended the meeting included Defence Residents Society (DRS), Defence Society Residents Association (DSRA), Assoc of Defence Residents (ADR), Defence Assoc Coord Committee (DACC), Residents Assoc Ph-IV, Seaview Residents Society, NCW Neighbourhood Care, Helpline Trust and Defence Housewives and Working Women Group.
