Karachi: A meeting presided by Administrator DHA and President CBC Brig Khalid Tirmizi was held at DHA’s Main Office to review the development projects for Katchi Abadis of Cantt Board Clifton. CEO CBC Zeenat Ahmed was also present on the occasion.
Brig Khalid Tirmizi asked CBC to focus on development works related to bringing an improvement in water supply, sewerage, sanitation, road repairs and public amenity facilities in the slum areas on priority basis.
He said that CBC should not neglect Katchi Abadis in their development priorities. He added that no stone should be left unturned to provide the residents of under developed Katchi Abadis the basic civic facilities to give them a semblance of a reasonable living.The development projects approved for Lower Gizri/Bukshan Village included construction of a water filtration plant, installation of flood lights and construction of a dressing room at the football stadium, laying of a new main water supply line and installation of AC in CBC Dispensary of Bukshan Village.
For Dehli Colony the focus of development works is on improvement of water supply in the area by laying/replacing new water supply lines, refurbishment of sewerage system including laying of new sewerage lines, removal of encroachments and construction of divider on main road entrance to Dehli Colony.
In New Basti, Punjab Colony and Chandio Village the main thrust of development strategy would be towards bringing improvement in sewerage system, improvement of water supply in area by laying of 12 and 24 inches dia RCC pipes, and construction of a room adjacent to underground tank at Submarine Chowk.
The development projects to be undertaken in Pak Jumhoria Colony and Hazara Colony included construction of road from Foundation School to Korangi Road, cleaning of underground water tanks, construction of tiled streets, construction of a dispensary/community centre on an encroached amenity plot and development/improvement of Railway Ground in Hazara Colony for which 50% will be funded by DHA and 50% will be contributed by the residents.
The development projects for Katchi Abadis would start immediately after the formal approval by the Executive Board CBC whose meeting would be held shortly.
A private consultant architect gave a presentation on construction plan of a modern Theme Park in Clifton Block 8 by amalgamating three adjoining parks in the area. This park would be developed as an exclusive family recreational resort would be unique of its kind in the metropolis. The multi purpose park would comprise of the state-of-the-art joy rides, children park, play land, jogging/walking tracks, food courts, public toilets and underground parking lot. The entry for the public to the park would be kept free.
