THE Punjab government on Monday gave additional charge of the post of LDA director general to Abdul Jabbar Shaheen who is already serving as Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) director general.
According to a notification, Abdul Jabbar Shaheen (DMG/BS-19), PHA DG, has been assigned the additional charge of the post of Lahore Development Authority, Lahore, DG, in addition to his own duties.
Omer Rasul (DMG/BS-20), director general, LDA, has been transferred and directed to report to the Services & General Administration Department, Punjab government, for further orders.
LDA officials said Omar Rasul requested the Punjab government to relieve him from the post due to his bad health.
However, insiders said he was not happy over the appointment of Ahad Cheema as the district coordination officer (DCO), Lahore, because he was his junior.
In absence of the local government, the DCO is also performing the duties of the Lahore administrator so virtually he became the boss of the LDA DG who is much more senior to him, sources added. LDA officials said the request of Omar Rasul had been pending before the chief minister for the last one month and on Monday he took the final decision. LDA officials said that Jabbar Shaheen assumed his new responsibilities immediately.
