Karachi, Feb 09: The annual prize distribution ceremony of Defence Authority Junior Model School Beach View was held here today. Director Education Brig (R) Iftikhar Arshad Khan SI (M) was the chief guest of the function.
Brig (R) Iftikhar speaking on the occasion said that reading was the essence of life and helped in development of one’s thought process and outlook of life. He said there was no substitute for books adding that internet just provided us a wealth of information but understanding and comprehension of knowledge comes through reading books. He stressed on the need of promoting reading habits in students.
Dir Education stressed the significance of trio of students, teachers and parents working in unison and the role they could play in academic and educational success of students. He also commended the overall performance of the students in various fields of activities and announced a donation of Rs. 75,000/- for the welfare of the School.
Earlier the Principal, Mrs Asma Siddiq in her welcome address highlighted the achievements of the school in various curricular and co-curricular activities. She said that the school pursued an indigenous agenda aimed at ensuring intellectual and physical development of students in a vibrant academic environment.
The students presented a fabulous talent show on the occasion. The presentation included songs, skits, tableau and a short English play. The theme of the play was based on the significance of reading and its impact on intellectual development of thoughts in one’s life. The Urdu play titled ‘Khushboo Ki Qeemat’ highlighted the power of justice and fair play.
At the end Dir Education awarded prizes to the students and teachers who excelled in various fields of activities.
