The Pakistan’s Capital Development Authority (CDA) has made arrangements to make the Pakistan-India World Cup semi-final tomorrow ‘an event of festivity’ by installing big screens in F-9 Park and some other places in the capital city Islamabad.
“We have made elaborate arrangements to show the match on big screens,” said Ramzan Sajid, CDA spokesman.
The authorities are setting set up a large screen in the Fatima Jinnah Park where people from all walks of life along with their families will watch the match, played in the Indian city of Mohali.
The Capital Development Authority will also put up big screens in other locations of the city.
“Comprehensive arrangements are being made for the festivity at Fatima Jinnah Park.
A food festival and colourful programmes have also been planned,” the spokesman said.
Presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements, CDA chief Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said the authority always took lead in providing quality sports and entertainment facilities to the residents.
As Pakistan and India meet for the first time in a World Cup semi-final since the tournament started in 1975, it seems to be the only issue for discussion these days.
At a local market traders were linking the win against India with promise of free of cost favours for the customers. “I will give you one suit free of cost if Pakistani wins on Wednesday,” Mohamead Ramzan, a cloth shop owner, told one of his frequent customers as they bargained over price.
After lunch time, it is expected that there will be a few people in offices as the match starts on Wednesday afternoon.
