CDA asked to allot 3pc area in housing schemes for graveyards

Islamabad: The sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat has asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) that the area of land for graveyards in housing societies should be enhanced from 2% to 3%.

The sub-committee met here with Senator Shahid Hassan Bugti and asked the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration to look into the issue of arranging graveyards in rural areas to meet the future requirements of the population.

The meeting was also attended by Senators Fouzia Fakharuz Zaman, Kalsoom Parveen and Najma Hameed besides Additional Secretary Cabinet Shahid Ullah Baig, member planning and DG Planning CDA, deputy commissioner ICT and other officials. The meeting also considered the proposal for joint sewerage treatment plants and grid stations to minimise the land and expenditure of societies.

The committee while considering the Gulberg Farm Houses, Ghori Town, asked the CDA to regularise the scheme as per the bylaws applicable in case of developing the housing/agro farms scheme in Zone 4 and 5.

To a query, the Member Planning and DG Planning CDA informed the committee that residential plots of Northern Strip would be auctioned first and later on commercial. A committee constituted in this regard is scrutinizing the compensation claimed by multi professional societies.

The committee while considering the implementation status of recommendation of previous meeting regarding rectification in the affairs of Cooperative Housing Societies working in E-11 emphasized on CDA to speed up the implementation of recommendation.
