CDA punishes three staffers

ISLAMABAD – In pursuance of the judgment of the apex court regarding commercial venture in Fatima Jinnah Park, the Capital Development Authority has punished its three delinquent employees.

Deputy DG Environment Malik Aulya Khan has been given punishment of reduction in his pay status by two increments, Deputy Financial Advisor-II Zia-ur-Rehman Toor has been awarded a formal punishment of censure, while former member environment Mazhar Hussain was exonerated of all charges.

Mazhar Hussain was the DG (Environment) at the time the land in the F-9 Park was leased out to food outlet, Malik Aulia Khan was the Director Environment (Urban-II), while Ziaur Rehman Toor was the Cost Accountant.

In 62-page judgement delivered on June 4, the court directed the CDA to take action against its former chairman, Kamran Lashari and other officials involved for violation of the Constitution and CDA Ordinance 1960.

Following the court’s directions aforementioned three employees names were spotted.

The CDA had requested Establishment Division to hold inquiries against CDA employees too along with Kamran Lashri, however, on Sept 23, 2010 Establishment Division rejected the request of CDA and directed CDA to constitute its own enquiry committee under the supervision of a grade-20 officer to probe into the issue.

Following this direction, the Chairman CDA constituted a two-man committee comprising of Member Administration Shoukat Mohmand and Member Estate SM Farooqi to conduct inquiry. The said committee finalised it inquiry on December 30. In light of findings of the committee, the Chairman CDA suggested these punishments. The CDA had already submitted the report findings with the Supreme Court.
