CDA to launch new residential sector in zone IV

* CDA chairman says rapid mass transport system on the cards

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalized launching a new residential sector in Zone IV for middle class on economical rates likewise rapid mass transport system is on the cards and soon 35 buses will start operating in the city. Development of Sector I-15 is another priority of CDA.

Besides, contract of shuttle service of Diplomatic Enclave will be reviewed and Minister of Interior will be taken into confidence as Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials have been contacting CDA officials without following decorum.

The CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi stated this while talking to group of five journalists at convention centre.

Elahi said he had decided that he would start a residential sector on already acquired land and in cases of Sector I-17 and H-18 if it could not give award money to the affecttees of land then it would will be de-acquired and land handed over to owners.

He said Mass Transit System has been finalised and 35 buses would be run on two routs. He said after every five minutes one bus will depart for the secretariat from Faizabad and F sectors and estimated time of that journey would be 45 minutes. This project will be of Rs 300 million and it will be self-sustaining, he said.

Regarding shuttle service in Diplomatic Enclave he said contract of the service would be revised and hopefully after that, problems of the citizens would be solved.

He told journalists that residential sector of CDA ‘Park Enclave’ was successful and all plots had been sold out and even after the closing date people were contacting CDA to include them in the list of applicants. “So it has been decided to open a new sector in Zone IV. That sector will be for middle class and as the volume of plots will be high so price of the plots will be kept low,” the chairman said.

This year every thing will be streamlined. In 2009-10 entertainment budget was 7 million but in 2010-11 budget was reduced to Rs 0.6 million. Project of Municipal Bonds have been matured as banks have been given assurance about the money so CDA has been working on some feasible project, he said.

“Regarding Kuri project and Agro farms I have taken action on Kuri and later on suspended the relevant officers due to which so far CDA has not faced loss of even a single inch,” Elahi maintained.

While replying to a question that FIA officers had been contacting CDA officers without taking him into confidence Elahi said that he had decided to extend a complaint to Interior Minister Rehman Malik that FIA should follow decorum and should inform him before contacting any official.

He confirmed that there are illegal constructions in Zone III because Supreme Court (SC) had ordered that owners of land should not be restricted from construction due to which CDA had announced a policy that residents should get approval before doing construction.
