CDA tree plantation campaign in full swing

ISLAMABAD: Green Islamabad is the outcome of consistent efforts of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and its green environment is a rich source of entertainment for the residents and visitors, Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Pir Karam Ali Shah stated this on the occasion of planting sapling of Magnolia in connection with the ongoing Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2011 at Fatima Jinnah (F-9) Park on Wednesday.

Member Environment Mian Waheedud Din and Environment Director General Suleman Sheikh were also present on the occasion.

According to CDA spokesman, Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Pir Karam Ali Shah said their religion highly encouraged tree plantation and expressed hope that CDA would continue hard work not only to maintain its greenery but also further enhance its green cover of the Capital.

Shah said that he was representing the people of G-B and being their representative he had planted the sapling to put their share in the tree plantation in Islamabad.

Din apprised Shah that CDA was planting 0.5 million saplings during the current spring tree plantation campaign, which had already been launched last month by the CDA Chairman Intiaz Inayat Elahi.

He said CDA had been disseminating awareness amongst the people from all walks of life on tree plantation and involving general public, NGOs, traders associations, members of civil society and students adding, the public had took part in the current spring tree plantation campaign enthusiastically and planted hundreds of thousand saplings in different part of the capital.

The chairman CDA directed to submit progress report about the tree platation.
