Federal Minister for Communication Babar Khan Ghauri said here on Sunday that local population of Balochistan would be given priority in provision of jobs following the completion of Gwadar port.
“Balochistan government should ensure the evacuation of land for construction of Gwadar port as local people would be given priority in the provision of jobs and other facilities,” he said in a meeting with provincial Governor Awais Ghani here at Balochistan House.
Federal Minister informed the Governor that presence of local population in the area is creating hurdles in the construction of Gwadar port. He said provincial government should take interest in the matter and ensure provision of land for the port.
He said the offices of Gwadar Port Authority and Implementation Authority would be shifted to Gwadar from Karachi.
The Makran Coastal Highway is near to completion and highly trained police staff would be deployed on it. He said Gwadar would be an international city of future and would play an important role in boosting national economy.
Babar Ghauri, however, said illegal occupants in the area were the biggest hurdles in this regard. He said a Fishing Gety is being constructed in the area in order to shift the local population there. He asked Gwadar Development Authority to provide residential plots on reasonable prices. He informed that funds have already been issued for reconstruction of runway at the airport.
He informed that Frontier Corps, Maritime Security Agency and Navel Marine would be utilized for keeping a vigilant eye on the activities of miscreants in the area.
Governor Balochistan on the occasion appreciated steps taken by federal government and said that deployment of Naval Marines and Frontier Constabulary is very important step for ensuring security of Gwadar and to monitor the activities of miscreants.
He said Frontier Constabulary is providing better security to locals and foreigners including Chinese. He also gave a proposal for using Maritime Security Agency for patrolling at night in the area.
The federal minister while accepting the proposal said that trained police staff has been deployed at seven kilometer area for ensuring the protection of the airport. He said a special force is also being constituted to counter terrorism.
