Govt lauded for action against terrorism

PRESIDENT PPP Punjab Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan has said the government has successfully crushed the terrorism and its network in the military operation.

The PPP leader stated this at a reception given in his and Deputy Secretary Information Sajjad Bokhari’s honour by Khalid Awan, Pakistan’s investment counselor in USA, on Tuesday.

Sajjad Bokhari, President PPP Lahore Chaudhry Asgher, MPA Sajida Mir, Khalid Pervaiz, Malik Azhar Mughal and others were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Aftab Ahmed said the threat of terrorism caused a tremendous loss to the federation and it particularly proved detrimental to the economy. However, he said the menace of terrorism had been tackled and now the need of hour was to encourage foreign investment in Pakistan. He said the foreign investors should be encouraged since the atmosphere was conducive for trade and investment in Pakistan.

Deputy Secretary Information PPP Sajjad Bokhari said the appointment of investment counselor in US was a praiseworthy step and the investment counselors should also be appointed in all parts of the world by the government.

President PPP Lahore Chaudhry Mohammed Asgher said the ongoing electricity crisis in Pakistan was also the result of bad governance of the last PML-N government. He said most of the power generation plants were imported and installed in Pakistan during the government of Benazir Bhutto in her second tenure. However, he said Nawaz Sharif, after assuming the office as Prime Minister of Pakistan, put the project on a halt just to deprive the PPP of its credit.

Sajida Mir, the PPP MPA in her address, said the people had a lot of expectations from the PPP government and the party would fulfill its promises according to the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. She said it was the credit of PPP which always gave employment to the jobless youth, took measures to curb electricity crisis and did all other steps for public welfare.
