QUETTA: The provincial government is planning to launch a housing scheme for fishermen in five fishing regions, Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Development, Mir Hamal Kalmati, said.
He said this at a press briefing at the Directorate General of Public Relations on Tuesday. Kalmati said that the government was planning to construct houses for poor fishermen in the coastal regions of Damb, Jiwani, Gwadar, Pasni and Ormara of Balochistan. “We have allotted two hundred acres of land for fishermen in Gwadar. The government will announce a budget for the housing scheme in the next Public Sector Development Programme,” the minister said, adding that the government is interested to modernise the fisheries sector.
Kalmati said that more than 50,000 people were involved in the fisheries sector and more than hundred of thousands of people were doing their business in the sector.
