Karachi: An impressive and colourful ceremony was held in the picturesque environment of Defence Authority County & Golf Club on the eve of the inauguration of Resort Shelleys. This is a facility par excellence which has been added in the Club as part of its renovation package.
Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi was the chief guest of the function. He described the addition of Shelleys as a mammoth step-forward towards the up-gradation and refurbishment of the club. He said the new initiative has transformed the venue into a resort club with world class sports and recreational facilities.
He said that the availability of single and double Shelleys in the Club’s premises is an addition of a most comfortable and exciting facility for its occupants. He said that each Shelley was a mini private beach in itself with its west opening towards the beautiful Gizri Creek. The Shelleys are infact luxury huts and a temporary abode for relaxation in a serene and majestic environment.
He appreciated the plans of Club’s management to regulate the use of this facility on modern and progressive lines in conformity with our established traditions and culture. He said that Golf Club could now be ranked amongst the elite and leading Clubs in the country with exclusive facilities for sports and entertainment.
The Administrator congratulated the Club’s management, Sysmax’s management and project consultant Meinhardt for accomplishing a creditable job. He said that the transformation of the Club heralds the beginning of a new era of modernization and progress. He further said that the newly furbished club with exacting and exciting recreational, sports and family entertainment facilities make it the ‘Crown Jewel of Karachi’.
Earlier the Secretary DA Golf Club Brig (R) Hasan Rafi said that a strict monitory regime was followed for the project and that no compromise in the stringent technical and professional standards of construction has been made. He said that an excellent facility has been created in shape of Shelleys in a most exclusive and exciting environment.
He informed the gathering that the newly furbished Club has a modern driving range, revamped grass of the green, reshaped fairways, exhilarating landscape and floodlit facility for night golfing. In addition to this the Resort Club has exacting and exciting recreational, sports and family entertainment facilities such as swimming pools, gymnasium and upgraded squash courts to make it the ‘Crown Jewel of Karachi’.
Golf Club members, elites of the city, journalists and media people attended the function in a large number.
