Land disputes on the rise in capital

ISLAMABAD: Disputes over land issues are on the increase in the federal capital. Locals in and around the city allegedly sell their lands and then try to cancel the agreements.

A case on point may be of the security guard who was murdered over land dispute while he was on duty.

According to sources, Irshad, Zaheer, Qamar Zaman, and others who are natives of the Federal Capital had sold their land in Dhoke Rora to Bahria Town that Bahria Town further sold to a property dealer Arshad. Irshad, Zaheeer, and others decided to grab the same land that they had already sold to Bahria Town, claimed sources. They said Irshad, Zaheer, and others wanted to blackmail Arshad and get some money.

Natives Friday once again went to the land to get the possession but the security guard Matli Khan resisted. They allegedly shot Khan dead while injuring another guard Ahmed Khan and ran away. Injured Ahmed Khan registered a First Information Report (FIR) vide 152 under section 302 and 324with Koral Police.

The perpetrators are still at large and police allegedly is not making any serious effort to nab them.

The property dealer Arshad, while talking to Daily Times, said that natives of Dhoke Rora had sold the land to Bahria Town, which Bahria Town sold to him. He claimed he had transferred the land to his name. Natives came to know that a weak person had purchased the land so they tried to get its possession by force and upon resistance they killed security guard Matli Khan, said Arshad.

Investigation Officer Koral Police Station Muhammad Abbas told this scribe that both the parties had a fight that resulted in Mati Khan’s death. He said they had nabbed Arshad’s another security guard Muhammad Nazir who was present at the spot. He vowed to arrest the perpetrators soon remaining. He said it was five kanals of land that was center of contention.
