THE governing body of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided setting up of a Finance and Trade Centre on 1,123 Kanals Johar Town besides carrying out topographic survey and satellite imagery of suitable land for launching two new housing schemes in the provincial metropolis.

The LDA Governing Body meeting was held on Thursday with District Coordination Officer Chairman LDA Ahad Khan Cheema in the chair. It was attended by Vice Chairman LDA Amir Asghar Dar and Vice Chairman Wasa and representatives of the provincial local government, Housing, Planning and Development and Finance Departments besides administrators of the nine towns of the City.

The authority decided for holding open auction of remaining 15 lower ground floor shops as well as 19 ground floor shops of Liberty Park and Ride Plaza during the first week of July.

It also decided for requesting the Punjab Education department for construction of a building for Model Girls High School in Block-B/2, Gujjarpura Scheme.

Proposal for allotment of alternate plot No.2, Block-M, measuring 2-Kanal, 3 Marla and 125-Sq ft of Model Town Extension Scheme to the Pakistan Engineering Council in lieu of already allotted Plot No.11, Block-M of the same scheme as physical possession of the earlier allotted plot could be delivered to allotee since it was already under possession of Women Development and Welfare Centre, Government of the Punjab, as rejected as the council was not a government department. The meeting also disagreed with the proposal of constituting a committee for fixation of price of land behind Surraya Azeem Hospital, allotted to the encroachers affected by the extension of Chowk Chauburgi, Lahore.

LDA steps up special recovery drive: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has stepped up a special recovery campaign for collecting commercialisation fee from the owners/occupants of such properties that are being used for business purposes in its controlled area. People have been advised for depositing outstanding dues without further delay. Newly constituted teams are going door-to door and the properties which fail to pay the dues are being sealed without being served any further notice.

Recovery Directorate of LDA has collected a sum of Rs. 400 million during the past two and a half months on account of annual and permanent commercialisation fees from various localities of the provincial metropolis.
