LAHORE: Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday accepted the bail application of former Pakistan Deaf Cricket Association (PDCA) president Abdul Salam, who is accused of misappropriating the association’s funds.
The judge ordered that the accused be released on furnishing bonds of Rs 1.65 million. The judge said Salam was a heart patient and was also operated. He was an elderly person and being deaf, was suffering from permanent infirmity, which was sufficient ground to grant him bail, the judge observed. He held that treatment was a fundamental right of every citizen and the petitioner could not be given proper treatment in jail.
