All roads closed for security will be reopened gradually
ISLAMABAD: All roads closed for security reasons will be reopened gradually for traffic to mitigate hardships of people, especially schoolchildren and to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city.
This decision was taken in a meeting held at Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, said an official of CDA.
CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Sultan Azam Temuri attended the meeting.
The meeting decided that School Raod in Sector F-7, Margallah Road and the roads in front of different embassies situated in residential areas would be opened in the first phase, while the others would be opened gradually.
Elahi told the meeting that the blocked roads were causing immense inconvenience to people, especially employees of different offices and schoolchildren, said the official. He said the meeting decided that all the roads approaching schools and offices would be reopened to ensure people’s easy access to their destinations.
The CDA chief further said that most of the schools in the federal capital were re-opening from September 1 and there was a dire need to reopen the roads to ensure smooth movement of the vehicles.
The officials said in the meeting it was decided that during gradual removal of barricades preference would be given to roads and avenues linked to schools, hospitals and other important establishments.
