Zardari calls to restart dialogue process with India
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has underlined the need to restart the dialogue process between India and Pakistan for resolving outstanding issues, saying that the initiation of dialogue process between the two countries is in best interest of both sides.
“Suspension of dialogue process between the two countries is supporting the extremism and benefiting the forces, who want tension in the region”, President Zardari said after a briefing session by Foreign Office at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday. Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave a detailed briefing to President Zardari on foreign policy and Pakistan’s relations with neighbouring countries.
Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other high officials of foreign office were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion President Zardari said that Pakistan was eager to have cordial relationship with entire world especially with neighbouring countries. Better relationship and congenial atmosphere in the region will help every country to flourish and attain the desired goals of economic development and prosperity, he added.
He said Pakistan demonstrated complete seriousness on investigation in Mumbai terrorist attacks and offered full support to India in tracing terrorists, who executed the Mumbai terrorist strikes. India should trust on the investigation conducted by Pakistani investigators as they are fully capable and dedicated, he added.
Regarding his upcoming US visit, President Zardari said the meeting of Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FODP) is of high significance and it will prove beneficial for Pakistan. Friends will surely fulfil their commitment made to Pakistan regarding the financial support, he said. When contacted by Business Recorder, Farhatullah Baber said that there was no formal briefing by Foreign Office, but usual meetings of different ministers with President Zardari.
