PM asks NHA to focus on ongoing projects

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani directed National Highway Authority to focus on completion of projects, which have already been completed to the extent of 70 per cent instead of initiating new projects. He also directed to maintain equitable distribution of development funds among the provinces.

Prime Minister passed these orders while taking briefing from the Secretary Communication and Chairman, NHA on the mega projects completed in Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan/AJK which have immense importance from the connectivity point of view and generating economic activities in the country besides bringing people of far flung areas closer to people living in other parts of the country.

NLC starts charging Toll Tax on 17 different Toll Plazas at Lahore Ring Road

A total number of seventeen toll plazas are expected to spread across Lahore Ring Road (LRR) as confirmed by Najam Waheed, Deputy Project Director.

He noted, “As soon as the toll plazas are set up, bikes and rickshaws will instantly be banned on the Ring Road. The Ring Road is a fast moving track and slow moving vehicles will not only endanger their own lives but also the lives of other commuters”.

Nakheel to double size of Dragon Mart and Ibn Battuta Mall

Nakheel is set to embark on a major expansion of its retail operations, doubling the size of both Ibn Battuta Mall and Dragon Mart.

The company will join a host of developers investing billions of dirhams in malls, hotels and entertainment.

In addition, the developer behind Dubai’s palm-shaped islands is confident banks will lend Dh300 million (US$81.67 million) to build a shopping, restaurant and marina complex called The Pointe, on the tip of the Palm Jumeirah.

LDA auctioned five plots for Rs 43.6 million

A total of five plots, including four commercial and one residential sites, were auctioned for a sum of Rs 43.6 million by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Wednesday.

Open auction of these plots was held in LDA Community Centre; auction committee of LDA comprising of Director Finance, Director Estate Management and Director Land Development LDA conducted the auction, which was actively participated by the people, disclosed a LDA’s spokesperson here on Wednesday.
