Residential plots allotment to CDA employees

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Thursday issued provisional allotment letters of residential plots to 416 officers of authority at sector I-8.

The letters were issued following balloting for allocation of numbers of plots to officers from BPS-14 to 20. The balloting was held in the light of opinion of renowned lawyer S M Zafar that while interpreting decision of Supreme Court said the officers are entitled to get plots under 20 per cent quota.

CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari, however, volunteered not to get the residential plot. The sources said the chairman would refer his case for the plot to the Ministry of Interior, which would take a final decision.

The CDA had set criteria of minimum 10-year continuous service in CDA on basis of seniority. The officers on deputation also got the plot with minimum 10 years government service and at least one-year tenure in CDA.

The officers getting plots in sector I-8 also include Member Finance Kamran Qureshi, Member Administration Shaukat Mahmind and Member Planning Brigadier Nusratullah. The CDA also decided to transfer plots of 162 employees of BPS-14 to 16 to sector I-8. These employees previously were offered plots in sector D-12.

The CDA had already issued offer letters for allotment of plots to employees from BPS-1 to 13 in sectors D-12, E-12, I-11 and G-11. Most of them had deposited down payment. The CDA management, earlier, had deferred the balloting process to seek opinion from S M Zafar after authority”s legal advisor raised an objection that the authority should follow 5 per cent quota under Land Disposal Act 2005.

Meanwhile, a CDA Board meeting Thursday decided to impose fine on a four-star hotel on Murree Road for building violations on setback of the hotel. Member (Estate) was asked to fix amount of the fine.

The meeting also decided to absorb Saeed Akhtar Cheema, an officer of BPS-18 from Population Census Organisation in CDA as Deputy Director. The board also approved promotion of Assistant Director (Fire) of Municipal Administration from BPS-17 to 18 as Deputy Director.
