RAWALPINDI: The court of a magistrate on Thursday denied post-arrest bail to the driver whose out-of-control car led to five deaths during a drag race in last December.

Magistrate Azmatullah Khan rejected the bail plea of Majid Naeem who was driving the car that crushed five men to death in Phase-VIII of the private housing society on December 5, 2010.

RAWALPINDI: The tragic drag organised by that caused the death of five spectators continues to drag on in court. On Tuesday, the chief executive of and two employees of the housing society moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) asking for their acquittal in the case after the legal heirs of the victims pardoned them. In another hearing, the high court granted interim bail to two managers of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited in the case. They had been accused of sponsoring the “illegal and risky event”. Justice Ijaz Ahmed of the LHC Rawalpindi bench allowed Ali Ahmed Riaz, the Chief Executive Officer of , Muhammad Waleed Aman, the executive manager marketing, and Colonel (retd) Muhammaf Rafqat, the chief security officer of the housing society, to submit the diyat money with the trial court. It also asked the prosecution in the case to respond to the applications filed by the three accused persons within two weeks.

Bahria Town drag race: Two weeks given to bring culprits to justice

A new controversy in Bahria Town drag race case

On Thursday, there was a U-turn in the case. This happened when the investigation officer informed the that Atif Sheikh, the main event organizer was detained last week in Dubai. He was caught through Interpol.

After that there was a huge of confusion in the court. Atif had applied for political asylum as stated by DIG Mubasharrullah. But lawyer of the chief executive of Bahria Town said that there was not a single pending case found against , the son of real estate businessmen Malik Riaz.
