Water supply schemes to run on solar energy

MIRPURKHAS Jan 26: A survey will be conducted of water supply schemes in Mirpurkhas to prepare a feasibility report for installation of a solar energy system to run the facilities during power crisis.

Funds for the project would be provided from the quota of Minister Shoaib Bukhari.

Administrator of the Mirpurkhas taluka municipal Abdul Wahab Abbasi told this reporter that a few weeks ago, Niaz Ahmed Janjhi, assistant director of the environment and alternative energy, visited the water supply schemes in Satellite Town, the village of Jhurbi and on the Tando Adam and Sindhri roads and prepared a report.

He said that recently Secretary of the department Mir Hussain Ali talked to him and said that within a few days, officials of his department would visit Mirpurkhas and conduct a survey of the water supply schemes to prepare a feasibility report for the project.

He said that it would be the first installation of the solar energy system to run a water supply scheme in the province.

He deplored that thousands of people were suffering because of Hesco`s failure in providing electricity connection and installing transformers for water supply and drainage system of the city. EXAM:

Practical examinations for linemen were held here on Wednesday by Hesco for allowing them a risk allowance of Rs5,000.

They had demanded the separate risk allowance as approved by Pepco.

A Hesco team, comprising the deputy director technical and provincial leaders of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour, took examinations of linemen in presence of XEN Mirpurkhas division Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan and the SDOs concerned.
