100pc rise in commercial fee recovery, says LDA

LAHORE, May 24: The Lahore Development Authority has so far collected a sum of Rs740 million as commercialisation fee from various localities of the metropolis during the ongoing fiscal year.

Officials claimed that the fee was nearly 100 per cent higher than the Rs400 million target set during this fiscal year.

According to director (recovery) Muhammad Ali, the LDA had intensified the ongoing recovery campaign for collecting commercialisation fee from the owners/occupants of those properties that were being used for business purposes within territorial jurisdiction of the authority.

“Special recovery teams have been constituted to realise fee from defaulters,” Mr Ali said, adding that the officials were also sealing the commercial properties whose owners failed to pay fee despite receiving several notices. He asked the people to deposit the outstanding dues without further delay so as to avoid any action. PLOTS RETRIEVED:

A special team led by Estate Management Director Liaquat Ali Randhawa of the Lahore Development Authority on Tuesday retrieved two plots in Sabzazar.

The team also demolished more than 100 encroachments, which were causing hurdles in smooth flow of traffic as well as pedestrians movement in this area, a press release said.

It said the plot No 850-L and 196-H1 were retrieved by the officials from the illegal occupants.
