LAHORE: Under a special security plan, more than 8,000 police officials and almost 160 mobile squads will provide security to the citizens during Ramzan. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Pervez Rathore on Tuesday directed the city police to ensure proper implementation of the plan.
He said foolproof security should be provided at all places of worship and additional Muhafiz Force personnel should be deployed there. He directed all the station house officers (SHOs) to visit mosques and imambargahs in their jurisdiction. He said loudspeakers should be used only for giving sermons, calling for prayers and offering prayers, adding that legal action would be initiated against anyone flouting the law. The CCPO said vehicles should be parked at least a hundred metres away from places of worship and a constable or a private security guard should thoroughly check the cars at the parking. He said daily checking should be ensured at bus stands and the railway station and called upon the citizens to inform Emergency 15 in case they observed a suspicious person, briefcase or unattended luggage. He directed all the superintendents of police (SPs) to monitor the places of worship and business centres in their divisions and brief their subordinates on the security plan. He directed the chief traffic officer (CTO) to implement the devised traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic during rush hours in Ramzan, adding that parking should be forbidden near Sunday Bazaars and Ramzan Bazaars. He directed the CTO to supervise traffic wardens during rush hours and said the circle officer and the squad in-charge would be responsible for traffic in their respective areas.
