CDA approves four projects worth Rs 42.5m

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved four projects worth Rs 42.5 million to install security streetlights on two national highways. The project concept (PC-1) has been prepared while the construction work will start next month.

Sources said that streetlights would be installed on roads leading towards Margalla Town to Muree Road and Seventh Avenue to Margalla Road costing Rs 18.9 million. He said that the decision was taken following recovering of two rockets in the sensitive areas of the capital.

Sources said that CDA”s electrical and mechanical division was directed to complete the qualification work of international firms for the purpose. Street polls from Zero Points to Zafar Chowk and Islamabad Highway would be installed for Rs 9 million, sources said. They said the CDA has also approved a project regarding renovation and beautification of parliament lodges.

Recycling plant to be installed outside the city: Raja Javed Ikhlas, the Rawalpindi district nazim, has said that a recycling plant will be installed in Loser and Baga Sheikhan Union Councils. He said that cheap electricity, ammonia and fertilizer would also be produced with the plant. Brig Sajjad, the station commander, Hamid Nawaz, the Potohar Town nazim, and Muhammad Nasir Raja were also present on the occasion.

Action against profiteers continues: The district administration monitors edibles” prices daily in the capital, besides security checking, said a district administration spokesperson. He said the prices of vegetables and fruits were fixed on daily basis and teams headed by the price magistrates visited markets and release price lists. The spokesman said that the shopkeepers and traders not displaying price lists at visible places were fined. He said that profiteering and sale of substandard edibles had decreased because of a checking by administration.
