CDA promises to hand over possession of plots in eighteen months

Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Farkhand Iqbal, along with Prime Minister’s Task Force on Islamabad Chairman Faisal Sakhi Butt, Thursday performed the ground-breaking ceremony to launch development work in the delayed sector of I-11 Islamabad.

The CDA chairman, who in his recent press conference announced that he would focus on starting development work in the sectors which have already been allotted but where development work was yet to be launched because of a number of complexities, fulfilled his promise to some extent by launching the development work in Sector I-11.

Speaking on the occasion, the CDA chairman said that one of the major responsibilities of the CDA, in addition to provision of basic facilities, is to provide affordable housing to the residents of Islamabad. He said that the CDA has been planning to open up new sectors and have made a comprehensive policy to start development of stalled sectors on war-footing so that the allottees could be handed over possession of their plots, where they could built their homes.

“The authority will soon fulfil its commitment to the allottees by handing over possession of plots to them in other stalled sectors like D-12, E-12, I-14 and I-15 soon,” he promised.

He urged the allottees and affectees of these stalled sectors to extend cooperation in this regard because without the cooperation and help of the allottees and local affectees CDA would face a lot of difficulties in getting possession of the sectors, which are under illegal occupation.

“The development of Sector I-11 would be completed on fast track and within the stipulated time-frame. I also implore the local people to join hands with CDA in making Islamabad more clean, green and beautiful city,” CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Islamabad Faisal Sahkhi Butt said that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has entrusted the Task Force on Islamabad with the responsibility to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to open up new sectors and take immediate steps for the initiation of development of stalled sectors to overcome the shortage of housing units in the federal capital.

He appreciated the efforts of the CDA chairman and his team for taking concrete measures for the development of Sector I-11 in a very short time, which was stalled since 1990. He congratulated the allottees and hoped that they would soon be able to construct their homes on the plots, which were allotted to them long ago.

Earlier, CDA Member Engineering Syed Ibrar Hussain Shah, while briefing on the project, said that there are 2,000 plots in total out of which 1,700 plots have been allotted to the CDA employees and 300 plots to the affectees. The project for the development of Sector I-11 would be completed in 18 months with a total cost of Rs186.928 million.

All board members, CDA officers and a large number of allottees and local people were present on the occasion.
