The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will organise clean and green Islamabad walk titled ‘Walk for a Cause’ on Thursday as a part of a comprehensive awareness campaign for the Spring Tree Plantation 2011.
The Green Islamabad Walk will commence from Saudi-Pak Tower and will end across the Faisal Avenue in front of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, says a press release issued by the Directorate of Public Relations of the CDA on Tuesday.
The walk has been arranged to involve the general public in the efforts of ‘Clean & Green Islamabad’ campaign. CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi would lead the walk to be participated by the students, NGOs, representatives of traders associations, civil society, sector citizens committees and environmentalists.
The CDA chairman has directed the Environment Wing of the Authority to widely display posters, banners and streamers in different areas of the city and car-stickers, paper-bags and badges carrying slogans for planting trees should also be distributed.
Television and radio talk shows and awareness through the newspapers would also be carried out. To make the Spring Tree Plantation more effective, the Capital Development Authority will establish distribution points in Marakiz of each sector for free distribution of saplings of ornamental and fruit plants to the general public, educational institution along with awareness and informative material on plantation and kitchen gardening.
CDA has also planned mobile awareness campaign under which informative material, audio and video information on environment and tree plantation will be transmitted.
