The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has installed 190 surveillance cameras at all entry/exit points and important locations in the Defence area.
An official said in a statement on Friday the cameras were connected through a fibre optic cable to the Main Control Room at the DHA Main Office for active surveillance/monitoring of the area.
He said the Control Room worked round the clock and all suspicious and nefarious activities were closely monitored to boost security in the area. It was pointed out that in the wee hours of Monday three anti-social persons were found looting passengers at Khayaban-e-Ittehad-Korangi Road junction.
The DHA vigilance mobile rushed to the scene and arrested the three robbers after a brief encounter. The robbers were handed over to the Defence police. Administrator DHA Brig Aamer Raza Qureshi commended the Vigilance Staff for their timely and courageous action. He asked the DHA vigilance staff to remain ever vigilant and work with utmost dedication and devotion to enhance the security environment in the area.
