Five Days Seminar on "Learn to Teach" under the aegis of DHA’s Education Dte

Karachi: The concluding session of five days seminar on “learn To Teach” organized under the aegis of DHA’s Education Dte for the faculty members of DHA educational institutions was held at Defence Authority Degree College For Women Ph-VIII here today.
More than 600 teachers of various DHA schools and colleges attended the Seminar which focused on themes like ‘I am to learn, I strive to learn and learn to teach’.
Director Education DHA Brig (R) Iftikhar Arshad Khan was the chief guest of the concluding session. Five different syndicates comprising of various principals of DHA educational institutions made thought provoking and intellectually stimulating presentations during the seminar on different facets of effective teaching. The presentations focused on the subjects of developing listening, speaking, thinking, reading and writing skills.
Brig (R) Iftikhar Arshad termed the erstwhile seminar as a singular milestone focused towards enhancement of knowledge, skills and expertise of the teachers. He said that the aim of holding the seminar was to uplift the teachers’ professional abilities since they were in the essence the backbone of any successful institution.
He advised the teachers to take the learning points of the seminar in earnest by following them through their practice of class room teaching. He asked them to set for themselves tangible objectives and to pursue them diligently.
Brig (R) Arshad outlined the objectives of the seminar which included nurturing the art of learning to teach effectively, the art of developing communication skills, promoting the art of creative writing inculcating the habit of speedy reading, developing effective listening skills, art of reinforcing teaching-learning process and techniques of maintaining high level of enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity for learning.
He said that faculty has the onerous task of preparing and grooming the future generation which they must discharge in a befitting manner. He said that refinement of teaching skills was a continuous process and must be pursued through out the life for enhancing quality of education.
