ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned to install 40 new fountains in various areas of the city to beautify it and provide entertainment to the citizens, said CDA Director, Parks, Malik Abid.
He said 14 fountains were already functioning in the city. He said new fountains would be installed at important locations, including PTCL Chowk, Centaurus, Parliament Chowk, Seventh Avenue, Serena Hotel, Rawal Dam Park, most visited markets and busy intersections.
“The project will be completed by June this year and most of the fountains will be locally-manufactured,” the director said, adding, the fountains to be installed at prime locations would be imported. He said though maintenance of the fountains required a great chunk of amount, the authority had enough resources to execute the project.
He said a successful installation of fountains would enhance beautification of the city. Abid said two teams would be formed to ensure proper working and maintenance of the fountains. He said the CDA would also add fancy lights and other features to the installed fountains. When contacted, a senior CDA official said a very slight quantity of water evaporated from fountains run through a recycling method. app
