LDA given three days to clear complaints

AFTER suspending two senior officials for not clearing pending complaints, the Lahore Development Authority director general on Wednesday warned all the officers of strict action in case all the pending complaints were not cleared within the next three days.

The new LDA boss is seemed to be very strict regarding work, an LDA official said, and added taht he had paid a surprise visit to the One-Window Cell of the authority and got a briefing on its working.

LDA DG Abdul Jabbar Shaheen himself witnessed huge pending complaints, relating to various directorates of the authoritt and suspended two deputy directors, namely Sohail Aslam and Shahbazul Haq Ghurki, on account of their failure in clearance of pending complaints relating to their directorates at the One-Window Cell. The suspended officers were directed to mark their attendance in Administration Directorate besides immediately handing over official vehicles, the DG ordered.

Abdul Jabbar Shaheen further ordered that all the pending applications at the One Window Cell must be disposed of within three days, saying that he wanted clearance of all pending complaints related to One Window Operation by Saturday (February 12, 2011). “In case any directorate fails to comply with these directions, the same shall remain open with all its staff till disposal of all pending references of One Window Cell on Sunday,” the DG said in his directive. He warned that failure to comply with the orders shall follow serious action. He also asked the One Window Operation Cell director to certify position of each and every directorate on Saturday afternoon.

The DG further directed that attendance in LDA Plaza, Lahore would be marked through the Integrated Personal Identification system from Monday (February 14, 2011). He said only those employees, who properly displayed their official computerized identity cards, would be able to enter the premises after verification of their finger impression on digital sensors. He said employees, reaching office beyond 8:30am, would be proceeded against in accordance with the Manual for Secretariat Instructions.

The strict instructions from the DG have spread panic among the relaxed officials and officers of the LDA and they immediately started gossiping about the ‘strict’ rules.

Sources in the LDA revealed that hundreds of complaints relating to various directorates of the authority were pending at the One Window Cell. The scribe repeatedly tried to contact Director One Window Mansoor Butt but he did not bother to attend the calls on his official cell phone. If the director One Window is not attending calls on his cell phone, one can imagine the plight of the complainants who are running from pillar to post in the LDA for getting their issues resolved.
