LAHORE: A general house meeting of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Monday unanimously passed a resolution against proposed reappointment of judges allegedly appointed by former chief justice of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar.
The meeting, presided over by LHCBA President Nasira Javed Iqbal, demanded that all such persons who bear stigma of the previous era should not be appointed judges. The house expressed concern over a list appearing in a section of the press with the names of those persons who were apparently proposed to be elevated as
LHC judges. The house was of the opinion that such appointments would frustrate the true spirit of the lawyers’ movement.
Nasira said these persons had already lost the respect of the bar members and they could not dispense justice when they could not
do justice to themselves and their profession. She demanded that the nominees for elevation should be persons of known integrity who command the respect of the general body of lawyers and the public.
