Islamabad, Oct 19 (IANS) A road that would connect Pakistan with Tajikistan is estimated to cost Rs.2 billion.
The proposed road between Gilgit-Baltistan and Tajikistan would open up new avenues of progress and prosperity in the region, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
The estimated Rs.2 billion road would connect Pakistan to the land-locked Central Asian states.
Pakistan is the only country through which the Central Asian states could do business with the world either through Gwadar port in Balochistan province or the proposed Gilgit-Tajikistan road.
Pir Karam Ali Shah, Gilgit-Baltistan governor, had recently met both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to apprise them of the importance of the 220-km-long road.
