ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has spent approximately Rs600 million on carpeting and patchwork of various roads in the Class-C category markets across the federal capital.
An additional amount of Rs7 million has been spent on the upgradation of sewerage system of these markets.
CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi Friday expressed these views after his visit of small markets of Sectors F-6 and F-8.
He said CDA was focusing on development and upgradation of the small markets of the different residential sectors and sufficient funds have been allocated for this purpose.
CDA was making all out efforts to keep the city clean, however, it is also the responsibility of the citizens and traders to keep their surroundings, markets and streets in tidy condition, Imtiaz added.
He directed the concerned formations for further improvement of the footpaths, public toilets, cleanliness, sanitation and other facilities in the C-Class Shopping centres in the Federal Capital.
The Chairman CDA was apprised that the maintenance and upgradation of the small markets in I-series sectors have already been completed whereas work on upgradation of the small markets in other sectors is in progress.
The Chairman CDA directed that proper sit-out areas and landscaping in these markets be provided in addition to placing additional dustbins in the markets.
He said that for the first time different roads and avenues falling in the G and I sectors series have been decorated with lush green landscape and colourful flowers.
He said that during the ongoing fiscal year more funds had been allocated for the sectors neglected in the past. He said that the development and upgradation of the markets and road infrastructure was being carried out in consultation with the sector citizens committee.
