Bus terminals yet to be shifted out

ISLAMABAD, March 17: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to shift the five main bus stations out of the city even after allocating 164 kanals at Sector I-11/4 for this purpose and spending Rs6.5 million on development of basic infrastructure there, Dawn has learnt.

There is no policy to regulate the establishment of bus stations in the city. As a result, several inter-city bus terminals have sprung up along I.J. Principal Road and near the Faizabad flyover. Another inter-city bus terminal also exists at Karachi Company.

Property service fee surveys to begin

DUBAI: Property experts are preparing the first major benchmark surveys of service fees so that investors who have long complained of excessive rates can compare prices.

The government-backed Middle East Facility Management Association (Mefma) plans this month to start collecting data from its 75 corporate members as well as developers and property owners. The process will span the Gulf region and take one to two years.

SC tells off LDA over commercialisation policy

LAHORE: A two-member bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the owners of high-rise buildings in the city to file details to the court about the cost of land, area and covered area, and parking space of their buildings.
The bench was hearing a review petition filed by the owners against an SC judgment declaring illegal high-rise buildings that violated regulations or encroached on public land.

During the hearing, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar observed that no one had the right to encroach upon public land, roads or footpaths. “The roads will remain roads and parks will remain parks for the larger benefit of the public. The court will not do injustice to any party. It will give its judgment in the case after hearing all the stakeholders in the matter,” he said.

1,000 acres of DHA land in Karachi for military martyrs

The decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting. The Board of Revenue (BoR) confirmed to The News on Wednesday that the directives of President Zardari had been received in this regard.

LDA demolishes illegal building

LAHORE – The LDA staff demolished an under-construction building on a 10-marla piece of land which was being illegally built in B-block of LDA Avenue One near Bhopatyana on Raiwind Road.

Estate Management Avenue One Director Rao Fazal ur Rahman led the operation in the presence of Deputy Director DEM Avenue-1, Estate Officer and staff of Enforcement Directorate.
