LAHORE: A houseful premier of “Inaam”, a story of a Pakistani immigrant in UK, was held at the Cine Gold cinema, Bahria Town.
The 20-minute movie, recorded in London and produced by Akifa Mian, was premiered in Lahore among an enthusiastic crowd, including celebrities and socialites. The guest list also included prominent personalities such as Dr Mehdi Hassan, Salman Shahid, Asghar Nadeem, Moneeza Hashmi, Yasir Qureshi and others.
Inaam was selected for screening at the 13th London Asian Film Festival in March 2011 and was highly appreciated. The movie is about a lawyer, Inaam, from Lahore, who moves to UK for practicing law but ends up driving a cab to avoid starvation, sending money every month to his family back in Pakistan.
He lives a life where he sees his dreams drifting further away from him and then becoming broke never seizes as he gets stuck in a world of minicab business in gritty London. Throughout the story, Inaam encounters prejudice and hostility from all sides: from David, his regular English customer, from his unsympathetic Bangladeshi boss Abdul and from various passengers.
