Journalists get suspended two CDA officers for mentioning their names

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suspended its two officers for allegedly mentioning the names of journalists interested in plots in sector I-15.

According to sources, the journalists pressurised the prime minister for this action saying that the list sent to Cabinet Division in the regard was incorrect.

They said the journalists who were included in the list had not only applied for the plots but some of them had also deposited some installments. Some of these journalists were allotted plots in sector G-14 and in other sectors, but still they enraged when this list reached National Assembly Secretariat, it is learnt.

The CDA has suspended two officers including Abid Latif for sending an incorrect report to the Cabinet Division, which was forwarded to the National Assembly Secretariat regarding allotment of residential plots to the journalists. An inquiry, headed by CDA the Member Estate, has been ordered to fix the responsibility for submitting incorrect report in response to a reference received from the National Assembly Secretariat through Cabinet Division seeking information regarding allotment of plots to the journalists in Sector I-15.

The Spokesman for CDA said that in 2005, a case was received from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for allotment of residential plots to the journalists based in Islamabad.

The case was processed and after balloting the allotment was reserved for these journalists.

According to preliminary investigation, journalists Ansar Ahmed Abbasi, Rauf Klasra, Khalique Ahemd Kiyani, Afzal Bajwa, Syed Irfan Raza, Moughees Ashraf Baig, Sajjad Khan Tareen, Dilshad Azeem, Syed Zafar Hussain, M. Ishfaq, and Sabir Shakir did not show their interest in allotment of plots to them.

The spokesman said that while responding to a reference received from National Assembly Secretariat through Cabinet Division, the concerned officers of the CDA’s Estate Wing, consulted main file consisting the original list of balloting of plots to the nominees of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

The concerned officers without investigating the facts submitted the report, which was forwarded to the Cabinet Division inadvertently, including the names of all the journalists.

The Capital Development Authority has rendered an apology to the journalists for this inadvertent mistake and has expressed its regrets for any inconvenience caused to them.
