Karachi: A representative delegation of Association of Defence Residents (ADR) jointly led by Chairman ADR Capt (R) Haleem Siddiqui and President ADR Capt (R) Kamal-al-Karimi, visited DHA Main Office here today.
Later the delegation held a meeting with Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi to discuss various problems of the residents. CEO CBC and officials of DHA/CBC were also present on the occasion.
The Administrator informed the delegation that a major break through has been made towards resolving the impasse of undertaking the requisite repairs of DHA Cogeneration Plant to make it operational. The desalination plant is non-operational for want of necessary repairs for the last five months.
The Administrator said that finally the stake holders have agreed to contribute their shares for purchase and repair of damaged parts of the plant. The banks will provide 50% funds in shape of loans for the entire repair cost which is estimated to be 10 million US dollars. He said that the agreement was likely to be signed in next few weeks and the plant would accordingly become operational in approximately 6 to 8 weeks.
The Dir Vigilance unfolded the main features a new security plan for Defence being undertaken by DHA. The plan envisages bold and pragmatic steps being undertaken by DHA Vigilance Branch in collaboration civil Police to enhance security in DHA.
He said that joint patrolling by DHA Vigilance and Police has already started in DHA. DHA Vigilance has provided 10 mobile vans and 15 motorcycles for the subject patrolling.
The Administrator said that 10 check posts would be established on main Khayabans in DHA by end of next month to monitor the traffic. The check posts would have CCTV cameras, computers, connected with ACLC, CPLC and NADRA networks; DHA would spend approx. Rs. o.5 million monthly to maintain this system.
The Senior Cantt Engineer said that construction of roads was a complex process which involved foundation laying, leveling and compacting before the final carpeting of roads was undertaken. The Administrator reiterated that all roads in DHA would be repaired/constructed before 30 June ‘2009 positively.
The delegation was informed that a new Sunday Bazzar with all modern amenities would start working by the end of April 2009 in DHA Ph-VIII to provide a good shopping facility to the residents.
The Administrator in his concluding remarks said that DHA would continue to work relentlessly with the residents to make the Housing Authority a secure, comfortable and better place to live in.
