Karachi: Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi addressed a press conference on the eve of launching of DHA’s Roads Rehabilitation Project at Defence Authority Country & Golf Club here today to delineate the contours and main features of the project.
The project is a joint venture being undertaken by DHA and CBC for construction, carpeting and leveling of all roads damaged due to laying of new drainage system in DHA. The work on the project is scheduled to start from 15 Dec, 2008 and would be completed in the stipulated period of six months.
The damaged roads being repaired have been grouped in 13 packets consisting of cluster of roads. The project would be completed in a three phased programme on a fast track basis in this fiscal year. Roads in high density population area and roads with high traffic density would be constructed on priority according to a well chalked out strategy.
The Administrator giving details of the project said that DHA would provide all technical support, consultancy, monitoring and supervision of the project to ensure highest quality standards. CBC would get the roads constructed and would be the major financer of the project. The cost of the project is approx Rs. 700 million.
The Administrator said that during the construction phase arrangements for proper sign posting, guidance and alternate route plans have been planned. The same would be intimated to the residents through media to ensure that minimum inconvenience is caused to them.
The Administrator said that Creek Vistas Appts, the biggest vertical development project in the country, located in DHA Ph-VIII overlooking the Arabian Sea are almost complete. These apartments would be handed over to the allotees between Dec’ 08 to Apr’ 09.
The Administrator said that Sunday Bachat Bazaar in DHA Ph-VIII which is the largest Bazaar in DHA is being upgraded and relocated to a new venue at a cost of Rs. 55 million. The Bazaar at new venue will have stalls, spacious parking and will be organized twice a week on modern lines.
The Administrator said that DHA and CBC have jointly made elaborate arrangements for sacrificial of animals on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha. Dedicated places in each phase have been earmarked for this purpose. The designated venues in each phase of DHA would have all facilitates to ensure that residents sacrifice their animals in a neat, clean and hygienic environments.
The Administrator later answered a number of questions pertaining to DHA development scheme and other matters of public importance. CEO CBC Ms Zeenat Ahmed, Assoc of Defence Residents’ reps and prominent residents besides press and media people were present on the occasion.
