Karachi: Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi undertook an erstwhile tour of nook and corner of DHA to see the post rain situation in the area. He was accompanied by CEO Cantonment Board Clifton Zeenat Ahmad and concerned DHA/CBC officials.
The entire DHA has largely been cleared of rain water barring some low lying open plots where standing rain water is being pumped out. Administrator directed DHA/CBC to intensify the dewatering operation in the area. Twenty five additional suction pumps have been provided to CBC so as to augment their ongoing pumping operation. The Administrator stressed the need to maintain the impetus of dewatering operation which he said should not be broken. He directed the officials concerned to restore the area back to normal in the shortest possible time.
Brig Tirmizi emphasized that implementation of post rain plan in its essence should be ensured by DHA/CBC officials. He directed that available sanitary work force should be employed judiciously to ensure cleanliness of the area in wake of the heavy monsoon rains. He said that accumulated rain water from dips and depressions in the area should be cleared and area be effectively fumigated/disinfected to prevent out break of diseases.
Administrator appreciated the hectic efforts made by CEO CBC and her team in working round the clock to keep the areas of DHA and Clifton Cantonment clear during the rain emergency operation.
Administrator said that a technical committee has been setup to survey the rain affected areas in DHA and to make recommendations for improvement of drainage arrangements. He said that the efficacy and effectiveness of drainage system would be further enhanced in the future.
