Karachi: The annual function of Defence Authority Model High School, Seaview was held here today. Administrator DHA Brig Khalid Tirmizi was the chief guest of the function.
Speaking on the occasion Brig Tirmizi said that education is a harbinger of change in life. He said that good early education provides a sound foundation for life and transforms ones attitude, conduct and outlook of life.
He said that education must be balanced, wholesome and encompassing to ensure harmonious development of mind and body. He stressed on the need to strike a balance between academics and extra curricular activities so as to prepare confident and enlightened personalities who could face the challenges of life boldly and squarely.
The Administrator reiterated that DHA gives utmost importance to promotion of quality education at all levels from pre-primary to graduation in all forms and manifestation. He described it as the greatest service to the country adding that the strength of a nation is dependent on its sound educational base.
Earlier the Principal Mrs Rukshanda Jabeen in her welcome address said that main focus of all programmes in the school was on personality and character development of students besides emphasis on academic excellence. She said that great emphasis was laid in the school on intellectual, emotional and educational development of students to make them useful citizens of society.
She said that her school which has recently been upgraded to the high school level was maintaining the highest standards of excellence in academics as well as other co-curricular activities.
The students later presented a colourful and captivating variety programme consisting of tableaus, short plays and inspiring songs. Every play and skit had an underlying message which was presented in a unique manner. The theme of the play ‘light shade of Quaid’s personality’ was that united we stand, divided we fall. The Urdu Mushaira on self medication was humorous and hilarious in nature.
The musical presentations ‘Farmer in the Field’ and “Pakistan the heart of Asia” were superb and much appreciated by the audience.
In the end the chief guest distributed prizes amongst the students who excelled in academics and other non-curricular activities. He also announced an award of Rs. 50,000/= in cash for the school.
