ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday approved allotment of 18.5 acres additional land to the US embassy in Diplomatic Enclave. The decision was taken in the CDA board meeting here. CDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Khan chaired the meeting, which was attended by Member Finance Saeedur Rehman, Member Administration SM Farooqi, Member Planning and Design Syed Tanvir Bukhari, Member Engineering Tahir Shamshad and Member Environment Mazhar Hussain, said an official. He said the board approved allotment of 18.5 acres additional land to the US Embassy at the rate of Rs 40,000 per square yard. The meeting also approved the policy for recruitment to fill vacant posts in the authority. About 700 posts are vacant, which would be advertised in next few days, he said. The official said board also decided to construct overhead pedestrian bridges on roads to avoid accidents. Khan directed the directorate concerned to hire contractor for construction of the bridges on immediate basis, he said. staff report
