ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi on Wednesday directed the Revenue Directorate of the authority to expedite the campaign of property tax, water charges and other allied charges.
He was chairing said this during a meeting held here at CDA Headquarters which reviewed the progress on recovery of tax on account of property tax, water charges and other allied charges.
The Chairman directed the Revenue Directorate to accelerate the pace of ongoing campaign against the tax defaulters and ensure tax recovery on account of property tax, water charges and other allied charges in transparent manner without any discrimination.
He also directed the authority to take strict action against the tax defaulters who failed to deposit the outstanding taxes.
Director Revenue, Malik Muhammad Iqbal apprised the Chairman CDA that tax defaulters have been warned through advertisement published in the media to deposit their outstanding taxes otherwise strict action would be taken against them. Besides, the Revenue Directorate is also issuing notices to the tax
defaulters at personal addresses to expedite the recovery drive. The meeting also apprised the Chairman CDA that government institutions have also been requested to ensure deduction of water charges from the salaries of its employees.
In this regard, concession in water charges to Class-IV employees has been withdrawn from January 1 this year and asked them to deposit water charges. The Chairman CDA appreciated the process of tax recovery and urged the concerned formation of the Authority to excel recovery campaign, so that new projects for the benefit of the public could be launched.
