Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has disconnected 132 illegal water connections, seized 45 water motors and started water rationing for hotels and commercial buildings as part of its drive against wastage of water.
Due to the prevailing water crisis in the country, CDA has decided to install water motors in commercial buildings and hotels. It has also decided to open service stations twice a week. CDA Water Directorate Director General Sanaullah Aman said in a statement that 25 feet water was stored in Simly Dam, while 19 million gallons of water was being procured daily from the dam.
Katchi Abadi dwellers protest: Residents of Katchi Abadi in sector G-7 staged a protest demonstration on Monday against Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) anti-encroachment operation. Chanting slogans against CDA, they demanded immediate halt to the ongoing operation. They blocked Sitara Market Road to register their protest.
Blockade of the road led to traffic congestion in the area. The protestors threatened that if the operation was not stopped immediately, then they would block all roads of the capital and stage citywide protest.
