During a meeting held at the Corps Headquarters on Thursday, the Executive Board of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) approved the establishment of the DHA Suffa University, which had been delayed for some time and is now scheduled to be inaugurated in September 2011.
The DHA’s master plan is aimed at upgrading the resources and facilities at various colleges run by the authority and bringing them under the banner of Suffa University.
During the executive board meeting chaired by Commander 5 Corps Lt-Gen Muhammad Zahir Ul Islam, the university plan was given the green light and it was decided that its academic session would start in January 2012. It was also agreed that the Suffa University would initially offer undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the disciplines of English, economics, business administration, mass communications and fine arts.
Also, the president of the executive board directed the DHA to ensure that the proposed university maintained the highest educational standards in all aspects.
