ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finally decided to start development work in Shalimar Park, F-7/3, after persistent demands of the residents of the area and severe criticism in the press.
The authority had earlier decided to set up a mini golf course in the park against which the residents of the area appealed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The court had ordered the Authority to stop the golf course project besides developing and beautifying the park.
The main purpose behind developing the park was providing the residents with opportunities of refreshment and entertainment, said a high official of the Authority, adding that the development work consisted of a combination of hard as well as soft landscaping.
He said a highly skilled professional landscape architect was hired for the purpose. He said the park would be decorated with new fresh green areas, sit outs, walking and jogging tracks and other landscape features.
The official informed that the CDA had also initiated a project to develop new cultural complex in the vicinity of Lotus Lake near Shakarparian. He said CDA was making all-out efforts to preserve and develop natural beauty of the Capital for which, he said, the same was famous all over the world.
He said besides developing new cultural complex, the Authority had also planned to further improve and beautify the Lotus Lake and enhance its charm. He also informed that renowned consultant Arif Massod was hired for carrying out design work of the Shakarparian up-gradation project.
He said the same included provision of multiple recreational activities, plantation of new beautiful species of plants and more entertainment facilities to the visitors.
