Rawalpindi: Fake housing society deprives poor of money

A poor family lost its hard earned money in a fake housing society namely Naasrat Town in Soan Village after its owner left the country and now settled in Dubai.

Amanwail Sehzad had launched the housing society for the Christian community. Faiz Maseeh and his son Nawaz Maseeh had also deposited an amount of Rs0.8 million for their two houses. All the matters were dealt by Riaz Maseeh, the elder son of Faiz Maseeh.

Nawaz Maseeh and his brother Riaz Maseeh told ‘The News,’ “We have deposited Rs0.8 million and constructed two houses No16, 18 in Naasrat Town, but the owner of this society had given these two houses to a person namely Sadeeq Mull.”

They said, “Naasrat Town was started in 2001 by Amanwail Sehzad and some other members of the society including the then priest of F-8/4 Church Islamabad, Rev. John Neavan who is now in Satellite Town Church, Rawalpindi.”

Riaz alleged that Rev. John Neavan was aware of all the matters being a senior member of the society. “We had deposited the first instalment of Rs10,500 in the presence of the priest,” they added.

Riaz said, “I have registered an FIR with the Sehzad Town Police against the owner of the housing society but now his supporter Samuel Yaqoob Nick (Billo) is threatening us to withdraw the FIR or face the consequences.”

He said, “I have also filed the application with the IG Islamabad office which he marked to the concerned official but after so many efforts the swindlers are still at large.”

When contacted Rev. John Neavan said, “I cannot comment as the matter is in the court.” However, investigation officer of Sehzad Town Police Umer Hayyat said, “The case is yet under investigation and no progress has been made due to absence of documentary proofs like allotment latter or any other note.” The affected woman Mukhar Bibi and her two sons Faiz Maseeh and Nawaz Maseeh told ‘The News’ that they were seeking justice to get their houses.
