Chief Minister Balochisan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani said Afghan Transit Trade through Gwadar Deep Sea Port could promote trade and business in Balochistan besides opening new opportunities for employment.
Talking to media persons, he said Afghan Transit Trade through Gwadar Port was need of hour for development of the Port.
He said that he had asked relevant authorities to supply fuel to Nato forces in Afghanistan through Gwadar Port. The chief minister said the provincial government was ready to provide security to Nato supplies if they were transported through Gwadar port.
He opined that the Nato forces would have to invest $1.5 billion for construction of roads structure for easy transportation of oil to Afghanistan through Gwadar port.
Nawab Raisani observed highways were badly damaged by heavy Nato containers and oil tankers passing through Balochistan. Referring to Reko Diq gold and copper project, he said the province could run Reko Diq project. He said he had thoroughly discussed the project with scientist Dr. Samar Mubarakmand.
He was of the view that if the provincial government refined 15,000 tons of ore, it could earn $209 million. He, however, emphasized the need for new social contract among the provinces. He mentioned the federal government had provided Rs 1.5 billion for completing ongoing road projects of National Highway Authority in Balochistan.
