ISLAMABAD – The subcommittee of Public Accounts Committee on CDA land scams will likely to turn down the authority’s internal committee’s recommendations on out of the way lease of 19-acre of lucrative land along Park Road at a throwaway price.
As despite ensuring transparency in an earlier decision of CDA board, as per directions of the PAC’s subcommittee, the said internal committee has decided to keep intact the earlier decision of its board by making some nominal changes in it.
Now the city managers have reduced the lease period from 30 years to 20 years of 19-acre land along with slight enhancement in lease amount. According to recommendations of the committee now CDA will charge Rs12000 per month each of the nurseries for which earlier it was charging Rs4500.
The committee, which was constituted by the chairman CDA to undertake an in-depth review of the earlier decision of the CDA board, has finalised its recommendations and submitted with the PAC’s subcommittee, the sources said.
The committee comprised of CDA member (environment), member (estate), member (finance) and director lands and rehabilitation was constituted following the directions of PAC’s subcommittee.
An official close to developments confided The Nation that the subcommittee would likely to turn down the CDA’s decision in this regard. “The members of the PAC’s subcommittee had directed the chairman CDA to bring transparency in the agreement and not to hold negotiations with the owners of the nurseries,” he added.
“Transparency in this agreement was possible only by the way of revoking the already singed agreement and then auction of land through open auction, but it did not happen,” he added.
