ISLAMABAD: The government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of 30,000 houses in Lahore and Faisalabad on Thursday. The proposed low-cost housing project is a joint venture between the Pakistan Housing Authority and M/S Shaukat Saleem. The houses will be built at the Defence and Bedian roads, Lahore and the Sargodha Road, Faisalabad, under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. They will be offered to government and semi-government employees, and the general public. Housing Minister Rehmatullah Kakar lauded those companies that had shown interest in the scheme, saying the government would guide and co-operate with prospective investors. The minister added arrangements were being made to extend the housing scheme across Pakistan.
